Service, Repairs and Calibration

Despite the fact that they are treated well in the field or workplace, it is inevitable that you may need a repair or calibration along the way.

With all the care in the world, sometimes the worst happens; instruments  get run over by tractors, dragged through sludge, and get exposed to airborne contaminants. We know how important it is for you to be able to continue work on a job even when your monitor is in for repair. At Shawcity we endeavour to make the process as simple as possible so that you can carry on with the job and save time and money!

At Shawcity we do the following to help the repair and calibration process as easy as possible:

1. Quick and efficient service guaranteed. Normal repairs on a gas detector don't take long, however we will always be honest with you and will ensure that you have a replacement instrument whilst yours is being repaired, as with our calibration service. 
2. While you're waiting on repairs, we give you half off on a rental. We understand your need to continue working and monitoring within your products so will give you a replacement instrument whilst yours is being calibrated or repaired for only £185! This is the Shawcity Duration of Service Hire Scheme. 
3. We work fast and efficiently without skimming on quality! The order process is dealt efficiently by the sales support team and engineers who have a wealth of knowledge in a wide range of monitoring instrumentation. Our experienced engineers are manufacturer trained to service nearly all instruments we sell. Work is carried out at the Shawcity head office in Oxfordshire, in a fully equipped and modern service department.
4. Timely reminding. Reminders sent when calibration is due in advanced so that there is plenty of time to arrange for the calibration process
5. Authorised Centre. Shawciy are the UK Official Service Centre for all our major brands (Ion Science/3M/Quest Technologies/RAE Systems/Gilian/Honeywell (formally Sperian) ) and are authorised to repair intrinsically safe instruments to ATEX standards.

"What if I have to send my instrument to Shawcity?" 

Whilst it helps us for you to send your instruments in for service fully charged, please ensure they are switched off in transit or they are liable to be "inspected" by robots used by the security forces, which may cause damage.

There is no need to send us your calibration gas or regulator, but it may help diagnosis of battery problems if you include the charger

"Are Shawcity authorised?"

Yes, Shawcity are the Authorised UK Service Centre. We are authorised to calibrate and repair intrinsically safe instruments to ATEX standards for instruments manufactured by: Ion Science/3M/Quest Technologies/RAE Systems/Gilian/Honeywell (formally Sperian) )

Shawcity is as an ISO 9001:2008Accredited company.  ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for the quality management of businesses. It:

2. prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met
3. is designed and intended to apply to virtually any product or service, made by any process anywhere in the world

"Are gases certificated?"

Yes, the gases used for calibration all have a valid Analysis Certification for each lot. The gas mixtures are manufactured with balance using N.I.S.T traceable weights. We keep copies of Analysis Certificates for 3 years

"Are Shawcity appliances PAT tested?"

The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) requires all mains leads, chargers and power supplies to have a current PAT label.  As a service to our customers, any without will be tested by us for a small additional fee.
