Gas Safety

About 14 people every year die from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by gas appliances and flues which have not been properly installed or maintained.

You can’t see it. You can’t taste it. You can’t even smell it. But carbon monoxide can kill without warning in just a matter of hours.

You can's see it but our montiors can!

Flue Gas Analysis

IMPORTANT! Gas Engineers Will Require CPA1 From 1st April 2012

Anyone in the plumbing industry or those installing and maintaining devices will need to have the latest in Flue Gas Analysis technology.

Shawcity is the exclusive distributor for the Blue Line range of flue gas analysers from Systroniks for industrial and domestic markets.

What is a Flue Gas?

Flue gas is gas that exits to the atmosphere via a flue, which is a pipe or channel for conveying exhaust gases from a fireplace, oven, furnace, boiler or steam generator. Quite often, it refers to the combustion exhaust gas produced at power plants. Its composition depends on what is being burned, but it will usually consist of mostly nitrogen (typically more than two-thirds) derived from the combustion air, carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapour as well as excess oxygen. It further contains a small percentage of pollutants such as particulate matter, carbon monoxide , nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides.

At power plants, flue gas is often treated with a series of chemical processes and scrubbers, which remove pollutants. Howeve in order to detect these pollutants initially, you need a Flue Gas Analyser.

Shawcity has a wide range to suit all needs and budgets.

What is combustion?

Combustion is the act or process of burning. For combustion to occur, fuel, oxygen (air) and heat must be present together.

Flue Gas Anlysers

Shawcity have now introduced the Bluelyzer, a new edition to the Systroniks range of flue gas analysis instruments.

The Bluelyzer is a low cost instrument which gives a simple measurement of Co2, O2, CO2, temp draft and efficiency for domestic and light industrial boilers.

As well as boasting the lowest cost across the range the Bluelyzer can be configured for any fuel type.
