1.1. The following terms and conditions constitute the agreement between the customer and Shawcity Limited.
2.1. The company shall provide calibration and/or service work as agreed in writing.
2.2. Calibration services will be performed using appropriate manufacturers standards and procedures.
2.3. The company reserves the right to use 3rd party specialist services where necessary.
2.4. Calibration results are valid at the time of testing under stated conditions.
3.1. Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.2. Any parts required to ensure customer instruments are at calibration standard will be charged in addition at list price unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3.3. Any additional work identified during inspection will require customer approval before proceeding.
3.4. Shawcity reserves the right to charge a re-calibration fee of £25.00 if no approval is received within 4 weeks of a service estimate/ quotation being issued following completion of a standard service/calibration.
4.1. Prices are exclusive of VAT
4.2. For customers with an existing credit account, NET 30 days from date of invoice. Proforma payment is required via BACs or credit card (MasterCard or VISA) for customers without payment terms.
4.3. Shawcity reserves the right to withhold return of equipment until payment is received.
5.1. Estimated turnaround times are provided upon receipt of equipment to Shawcity in good faith but cannot guaranteed.
5.2. Shawcity shall not be liable for delays caused by parts availability, third-party services or circumstances beyond its control.
5.3. Turnaround times may be significantly impacted if a service returns form is not completed and provided with the return of the equipment
5.4. Shawcity shall not be liable for any customers indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit or business interruption
6.1. The customer is responsible for shipping equipment to Shawcity unless by prior arrangement.
6.2. Any damage to any product during transit to Shawcity remains with the customer.
6.3. Shawcity will relinquish any responsibility for damage to any product upon dispatch from Shawcity to the customer.
6.4. The customer is responsible for arranging appropriate insurance during transit.
6.5. Delivery is by the carrier of our choice, unless by prior arrangement.
6.6. Any shipments received by Shawcity containing calibration gas will be subject to a dangerous goods delivery fee upon return shipping. This will increase shipping time as a specialist courier will be used.
6.7. Any equipment submitted to Shawcity from outside the United Kingdom shall be sent at the customers expense and risk. The customer is solely responsible for all shipping and collection costs, including return delivery. In addition, the customer shall bear all applicable customs duties, import/export taxes, clearance fees and any other charges incurred during transit. We will not be liable for delays or additional costs arising from customs processing.
7.1. Repairs are billed at an hourly labour rate.
7.2. Warranty excludes normal wear & tear, misuse or neglect, lack of maintenance, consumable parts, accidental damage, vandalism, unauthorised modification or repair attempts, environmental or cosmetic damage.
7.3. Shawcity are not responsible for pre-existing faults.
7.4. Shawcity reserves the right, where reasonably necessary, to dismantle or disassemble customer equipment for the purpose of inspection, fault diagnosis, and completion of the agreed service/calibration/repair. Where dismantling reveals the need for additional work or parts not included in the original estimate, Shawcity will notify the customer for approval before proceeding.
8.1. Calibration certificates and service reports are issued electronically.
8.2. Shawcity retain calibration records in accordance with its quality management system (ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001).
8.3. Calibration certificates are issued upon dispatch of the instrument via email to the customers email address provided.
9.1. Shawcity reserves the right to charge storage fees for equipment not collected within 30 days of a service estimate/ quotation being issued, at a rate of £5 per week. Shawcity will do the utmost to contact customers to gain approvals however it is the responsibility of the customer to promptly provide any Purchase Orders, payments or confirmation of information to enable Shawcity to proceed with dispatch.
9.2. Shawcity reserves the right to dispose of uncollected equipment after 30 days, subject to notice.
10.1. Upon receipt, all equipment submitted to Shawcity Limited for service, repair or calibration will be inspected by our service team. If, in our professional judgement, the equipment is deemed Beyond Economical Repair (BER) – meaning the cost of repair exceeds its value or is otherwise impractical or unachievable, the customer will be notified via email.
10.2. This communication will include, where possible, details of the assessment and any available options (replacement/ return without repair/ disposal).
10.3. Customers are required to provide written instructions regarding BER equipment within 30 calendar days from the date of notification. Acceptable instructions include:
Approval of any quoted repair (if applicable)
Request for return of the equipment (carriage charges will apply)
Authorization for proper disposal
10.4. Shawcity Limited will store BER equipment for up to 30 days from the date of notification at no additional cost. After this period, we reserve the right to dispose of your instrument(s) in accordance with local WEEE regulations.
10.5. Any equipment identified as having hazardous faults (including, but not limited to, swollen batteries) may not be eligible for return to the customer due to shipping and safety restrictions.
10.6. No further notice will be offered to the customer prior to disposal after the 30-day period has lapsed.
10.7. If the customer requests return of BER equipment, Shawcity Limited will charge handling and shipping fees. An inspection fee of £75 will apply unless otherwise agreed in writing. All costs must be paid or covered by a purchase order prior to dispatch.
11.1. By submitting equipment and instruments to Shawcity Limited for service, calibration or repair, the customer agrees to be bound by the above Terms and Conditions.
