GasClam: What is the battery life on the GasClam in-situ borehole monitor?

Measurements can be taken at user-defined intervals. The default setting for the GasClam is to sample every hour and upload data every six hours providing up to two months battery life (with rechargeable D-cell batteries).

GasClam: What is the start-up time for the GasClam in-situ borehole monitor?

After the GasClam has been physically installed in the ground it can start collecting data in less than 2 minutes. The GasClam will continuously collect data at intervals set by the user.

GFM 436: How often should my GFM 436 instrument be serviced?

We advise that instruments are returned every 12 months so that they can be serviced/ maintained for optimum operational use.

The GFM 436 Landfill Monitor measures six gases: methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, carbon monoxide, hexane.

GFM 436: What is MCERTS accreditation for GFM 436 Landfill Gas Monitor?

MCERTS is the Environmental Agency or England and Wales (EA) Monitoring Certification Scheme. It provides the framework for businesses to meet quality requirements.

MCERTS covers accreditation of water sampling and testing. The standard was designed to underpin confidence in the analysis of untreated sewage, treated sewage effluents and trade effluents. UKAS accreditation will act as an assurance that the data produced by accredited organisations is reliable. Furthermore, MCERTS aims to promote the professional reputation of staff and organisations involved in sewage and effluent testing. 

We need to monitor biogas. Which instrument can we use?

The Gas Data GFM430 can be used for measuring the individual components of biogas (CH4, CO2, H2S and O2) concentration, as well as temperature. A dedicated biogas analyser, the GFM416 is available to hire or buy.

What are the advantages of the portable landfill gas monitor?

The GFM436 portable landfill gas monitor is hand-held and lightweight. Also, monitoring of several boreholes is possible during one site visit.

What instruments are available for ground-gas monitoring?

Ground-gas/landfill monitors are available in both portable and in-borehole versions. For 'spot' surveys there is the portable Gas Data GFM430/5/6 and for long-term borehole monitoring there is the Ion Science Gasclam.
