What is Fit Testing?

Fit Testing is the method for finding the respirator (RPE) that fits your face and making sure it provides a tight seal to help keep you protected.

When do you need to do Fit Testing?

The initial selection stage when individual users can be given a choice of adequate models of RPE.

Fit Testing should be conducted annually or whenever there is a change in equipment, weight, or facial structure.

The HSE recommends that a new fit test if performed if weight change, mole, scar, aging, introduction or change any other head worn PPE

What is the difference between qualitative and quantitative fit testing?

Qualitative fit testing is a subjective pass/fail test, while quantitative fit testing is an objective measurement of how well a respirator fits.

Do I need to be clean-shaven for a fit test?

Any facial hair growth older than 8 hours in the face fit area of the mask will cause problems according to our Face Fit Trainer.
