QuantiFit2 receives Commended in 2021 BSiF Product Innovation Awards

Shawcity is delighted to announce that the OHD QuantiFit2 fit testing system has received a national ‘Commended’ Award from the British Safety Industry Federation (BSiF) for Product Innovation in 2021.

The Award recognises products that are new, innovative and will contribute to improvements in occupational safety & health within the UK.

After receiving hundreds of applications, ten finalists were shortlisted and invited to present their products to a panel of independent judges who have vast experience within the safety & health market. Shawcity’s Managing Director Neil O’Regan and Product Specialist Manager Elliot Rosher met with the expert panel to demonstrate exactly how QuantiFit2 is changing the fit testing industry.

The biggest single innovation QuantiFit2 offers is the ability to run on battery power as well as mains. A world-first, this development has completely revolutionised the fit testing industry in terms of versatility and removed any previous geographic restrictions.

For the first time ever, fit testing is now truly portable and can be conducted anywhere, with no consumables and not tethered to a power source or adhering to specific environmental conditions.

Being battery-powered, QuantiFit2 can be used in large uncontained spaces indoors, outdoors or in marquees. The flexibility offers better ventilation and more COVID-safe conditions, whereas the old APC method requires subjects to be tested in a closed room under controlled conditions or artificially- generated conditions.

The new Autostart feature offers touchless testing capability, which also helps prevent cross-contamination. Tests can easily be conducted whilst maintaining a safe 2m distance, with clear instructions on the large LCD screen situated on top of the machine to help guide the subject through the fit test.

A spokesperson from the BSiF explained that the quality of innovative products presented was exceptionally high this year in over 100 entries and judges had a very tough task choosing the winners.

Winners were announced at the Safety & Health Excellence awards on Wednesday 13th October. Shawcity also proudly sponsored the Master of Ceremonies Alan Dedicoat (famous as the announcer on BBC shows including Strictly Come Dancing and the national lottery) as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award.
